Concrete form lock bars / waler bars are used to hold forms together until the concrete has set and they are easily removed during concrete form stripping. This is the biggest reason for industry adoption. Another reason lock bar / waler bar rentals are so popular is that it reduces the 2x4 walers in other concrete forming systems which reduces costs and labour. Lock bars / waler bars can be used with both plywood forms and 1x8s for harder areas and material reuse.
